Helene I hope you are writing about the Lakers trade to acquire Mark Williams at center and how they are planning for the future and also the here and now. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how Rob Blake can learn from Rob Pelinka and trade the assets that you have now for the last 2 years or so that we have Kopi and Drew but also some young talent that will pay off after they retire. The last thing any of us wants is for those 2 guys to quietly ride off into the sunset without the team making an all out effort to win now 🙏

Los Angeles teams now employ the best two athletes from Slovenia. What were the chances of that ever happening.

I for once agree with Platschke about James. It's time to move on, get some younger players, maybe a pick or two.

I’m going to reserve judgment on this trade just to let the dust settle.

Somebody must be talking to the Dodgers. This is the kind of transaction that creates others. The Lakers are now the place you want to be. You want to get a chance at a championship for more than a single year. For the Dodgers, it is eight or nine. With a 25-year-old Doncic, it is at least five (with LeBron likely for one or two more, assuming he stays.) As with the Dodgers and Shohei, there are pieces still yet to fit...with a magnetic draw inviting the best.

Well said, although I think the Dodgers have added some remarkably good pieces already, specifically to the bullpen. But yes, demonstrating a willingness to seek out the best creates an atmosphere that should draw top players in the future.

Great minds in the same gutter! I’m thinking about a column about the Lakers (and Dodgers) making such spectacular moves and whether that will inspire the Kings. Will probably post it after the Kings’ game tomorrow.
